Bertha's BBQ Sauce

Ingredients
Pine & Pepper Spices
1½ Tbsp. Medium Chili Powder

⅜ tsp. Crushed Red Pepper Flakes

¾ tsp. Mild Yellow Mustard Powder

¾ tsp. Ground Ginger

⅜ tsp. Ground Jamaican Allspice

- ¼ cup Brown sugar
- 1⅞ cups Ketchup
- ¾ cup Apple cider vinegar
- ⅜ cup Water
- 1 Tbsp. Liquid smoke (optional)

Combine the brown sugar and all of the dry spices in a small bowl.

In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, whisk together the ketchup, vinegar, water, and liquid smoke (if using).

Add the dry mixture and whisk thoroughly until smooth.

Bring the sauce to a boil, then lower the heat, cover, and let it simmer gently for about 15 minutes.

Pull from the heat and let it cool completely before using.

Brush onto ribs, chicken, or pulled pork, or set out in a bowl for dipping with all your BBQ favorites. Makes 3+ cups.
