  • 2¼ qts. Water
  • 1½ Tbsp. Olive oil
  • 6 oz. Bow tie pasta
  • ⅛ tsp. Corn starch
  • 1½ tsp. Pizza & Pasta Sprinkle — alternate to the Italian Herbs
  • ¾ cup Canola or vegetable oil, for frying

Directions

  1. 1

Bring the water, olive oil, and Turkish Bay Leaves to a boil in a large pot.

  2. 2

Add the bow tie pasta and cook 3 to 5 minutes longer than the package directions suggest — you want soft, slightly overcooked pasta.

  3. 3

While the pasta cooks, stir the corn starch, Tomato Powder, your chosen herb seasoning (Italian Herbs or Pizza & Pasta Sprinkle), Classic Garlic & Onion Blend, and Kosher Salt together in a small bowl.

  4. 4

Drain the pasta well, then immediately toss with the spice mixture until each piece is evenly coated.

  5. 5

Heat the canola oil in a wide skillet to 350°F. Working in batches, fry the seasoned pasta for 1 to 2 minutes, until deeply golden and crisp.

  6. 6

Lift onto a paper-towel-lined tray and sprinkle with a little more salt while still warm. Best eaten warm, but they keep in an airtight container for a day or two. Makes 3 cups.
